Douains: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture and History

The Château de Brécourt in Douains is partially protected as a monument historique. The protection covers the façades and roofs of the château and outbuildings, the forecourt including the access bridge and moats, the main courtyard, and the moats surrounding the château; the listing took place on 28 June 1967.

The present-day Château de Brécourt was built by Jean Jubert in 1635. The square bell tower of Notre-Dame de Douains was built between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century. The church also houses a 14th-century stone statue of the Virgin and Child.

The Saint-Barthélémy priory originated from a chapel and a manor house built by Ivry Abbey.

In August 1026, Richard II, Duke of Normandy, donated the Church of Douains, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, to Fécamp Abbey.
