Nature

In the Lévrière Valley, the ZNIEFF Vallée de la Lévrière stretches for almost 12 kilometres between Martagny and Bézu-Saint-Éloi. Within this area, the Lévrière is a fast-flowing watercourse with a salmonid-dominated character. The rare banded demoiselle Agrion de mercure (Coenagrion mercuriale) has been observed in this area; small populations may also be present along the Lévrière.

The ZNIEFF Vallée de la Lévrière is designated as a protected or registered landscape area under the 1930 French law.

Culture

The local cultural heritage of Bézu-Saint-Éloi includes the Tour de la Reine Blanche fortification. The house or chalet known as “Maison, chalet Brongniart” is also part of it.

The oldest part of the Église Saint-Rémi de Bézu-Saint-Éloi is the nave, which may date from the 12th century. The choir, to which an apsidal chapel was added, dates from 1822. The church’s clock mechanism was listed as a protected movable heritage object on 18 December 1991.

Hiking routes

La Boucle de la Tour de Neaufles is a 6-kilometre hiking route with a stated duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. The Église Saint-Rémi de Bézu-Saint-Éloi is one of the sights along this route. La Boucle de la Tour de Neaufles also has a 22-kilometre variant via the GR 125, which leads to the Chemin de la Reine Blanche in Saint-Denis-le-Ferment.

Landscape

On the Gisors–Étrépagny section of the Voie des Légendes, the route follows the Lévrière between Bézu-Saint-Éloi and Bernouville. It then crosses the Vexin Normand’s grain plains as far as Étrépagny.

Transport

NOMAD bus route 208 connects Étrépagny and Vernon and serves Bézu-Saint-Éloi year-round from Monday to Saturday, except on public holidays. In Bézu-Saint-Éloi, it serves the Les Vignes, Place de la Libération and Reine Blanche – Mairie stops.
