Culture and History
The Château-Musée de Saint-Germain-de-Livet is a listed historic monument with architecture dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. It combines a half-timbered manor house with a building made of stone and glazed tiles from the Pré d’Auge.
The room of the service areas at the Château de Saint-Germain-de-Livet retains remarkable 16th-century frescoes.
The Église Saint-Germain has a Romanesque nave and a Romanesque choir. A seigneurial chapel was added to the south side of the choir in the 16th century, of which remains have survived.
The Église Saint-Germain contains three 16th- and 17th-century praying figures classified as objects, depicting members of the de Tournebu family. The church cemetery preserves numerous graves, including very old graves in the form of stelae.

The Château de Saint-Germain-de-Livet is surrounded by gardens and tranquil moats. The Jardin de l’Abbé Marie is located in the former parish cemetery between the Église Saint-Germain-de-Livet and the river that flows around the château. Small perennial gardens are planted at the foot of the graves in the Jardin de l’Abbé Marie.
