Culture and History
The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité in Rubercy houses a statue of Saint Lawrence. It dates from the 18th century and was listed as a protected movable cultural object on 22 December 1981.
Archaeological investigations date Château de Rubercy to the second half of the 12th century. It is considered one of the earliest examples of its kind.
Excavations of the bailey of Château de Rubercy uncovered a large, extremely carefully constructed building with a rich sculptural decoration.
The site of the old Château de Rubercy is marked by a roughly square tumulus about two metres high. Around it, a still recognisable ditch approximately 30 centimetres deep has been preserved.
Nature and Water
The small Ruisseau de la Poterie flows into the Tortonne at the Château de Rubercy site. Coming from the southwest, the Ruisseau de la Poterie flows through the hamlet of La Poterie.
The small Tortonne, three to four metres wide, meanders through a broad flood-prone valley at the foot of the “Village de l'église” and immediately beside the “Village du bas” in Rubercy.
