Culture

The former prison of Pont-l'Évêque opened in 1823. In France, it is a very rare surviving example of a building belonging to the prison administration.

The Saint-Michel Church features Flamboyant Gothic architecture and has been listed as a historic monument since 2008. The old quarter of Pont-l'Évêque is home to half-timbered architecture typical of the Pays d'Auge.

In summer, a guided tour of the historic centre is offered in Pont-l'Évêque. Pont-l'Évêque is also home to the new Calvados Experience visitor area. Tours of the former prison are offered by reservation by Les Dominicaines, a cultural centre and art library.

Those who choose Pont-l'Évêque as their holiday destination want to rent a holiday apartment.

Nature

Lac de Pont-l'Évêque has a sandy beach bearing the Pavillon Bleu label and offers numerous water sports activities. The lake can be reached on foot from the town centre via a soft mobility path.

Culinary delights

Pont-l'Évêque cheese is considered the oldest of the Norman cheeses. It has held the controlled designation of origin AOC since 1972 and the protected designation of origin AOP since 1996.

A visit to Calvados Père Magloire, l'expérience takes you through seven rooms with unusual decorations and uses numerous special effects to explain the transformation of the apple. Calvados Père Magloire, l'expérience also offers an immersive visit covering the history of Normandy and the production of Calvados.
