Périers-En-Auge: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Périers-en-Auge has a preserved natural landscape extending across the hills of the Pays d’Auge and the Marais de la Dives. From the heights, there is a panoramic view of the coast, while the village borders Dives-sur-Mer and is located near the beaches of Cabourg.

Nature

The ZNIEFF Marais de Varaville also includes the municipality of Périers-en-Auge. The Marais de Varaville consists of wet meadows crossed by drainage ditches and artificial ponds. Due to the animal and plant species found there, it remains an area of ecological interest.

Culture and history

The Church of Saint Firmin was built in the 12th and 13th centuries and remodelled in the 18th century. It stands in isolation on a hill above the Marais de la Dives. The church contains a baptismal font, a rood beam and the gravestone of the parish priest Louis Morice, who was buried there in 1749. In the cemetery near the church is the grave of the English soldier Private Hedges.

The Horsa glider CN94 is also part of the village’s historical references: it made an emergency landing in Périers-en-Auge, ten kilometres northeast of the designated landing zone, carrying 28 soldiers and two pilots.
