Culture and History
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste was rebuilt from 1513 to 1525 in the late Flamboyant Gothic style. Its portal, in the style of Louis XIV, comes from Val Richer Abbey, which was demolished in 1802.
Manerbe’s pottery tradition included utilitarian ceramics, bricks, and paving stones. Ceramic art reached its peak from the 15th to the 17th century, particularly through the production of glazed terracotta roof finials. In Manerbe, the pottery industry may have existed since at least the Gallo-Roman period. The town’s history also includes the fact that the Charité resumed its activities on June 23 with 14 brothers.
Trails and Routes
La Balade Manerboise was created at the end of 2000 to prevent the local paths from being sold or disappearing. It includes discovery tours focusing on flora, as well as walking routes in Manerbe and the surrounding area. Walking and cycling excursions were organized to promote the local paths.
On the Manerbe–La Viparderie hiking trail, visitors can see the remains of the former Château de Manerbe. The Circuit du Pré d'Auge / Manerbe is an easy, 20-kilometer mountain biking route that begins at the town hall in Le Pré d'Auge.
