Le Désert: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

According to tradition, Robert de Presles, Lord of Le Désert, founded a priory in his parish around 1101.

Culture

Robert de Presles transferred the priory to Troarn Abbey; six monks were appointed to pray for the salvation of his soul. The remains of the former priory include a building attached to the choir and another building wing connected at right angles to the nave.

The Church of Notre-Dame dates from the 12th century and was restored in the 19th century. On the north side of the nave are two bays with herringbone masonry and a small Romanesque window. The Church of Notre-Dame-de-la-Nativité contains an 18th-century carved and gilded wooden statuette of the Virgin and Child, which has been protected as a movable cultural asset since 1988.
