Fontaine-le-Pin lies between the plain of Caen and Suisse Normande. To the west, the Laize River forms the boundary of the commune; its valley and several side valleys shape this area and cut into the plateau.

Culture
The Church of Saint-Pierre, dating from 1956, has a granite altar supported by four sculpted pillars. The furnishings were created by Yvonne Guégan; she also created a complete decorative ensemble in the church. Saint-Pierre was built in 1957 by Pierre Bienvenu. Since 16 June 2005, the church has been listed as a Monument historique.
The main construction phases of the Église de Bray-en-Cinglay date from the 12th and 13th centuries. As a whole, it has been protected as a Monument historique by a listing order dated 10 June 2014. The church can be visited by prior request.
The Templar commandery of Voismer was founded in 1148 by Roger de Gouvix and is privately owned. The surviving equipment of the Moulin de Bray includes three pairs of millstones with their hoppers, sieves, gears, and mechanisms for distributing flour. The Church of Saint-Aubin in Bray-en-Cinglais contains a 14th-century statue of the Virgin Mary and a Baroque-style altar.

Fontaine-le-Pin is home to the type 1 ZNIEFF nature area “La Laize et ses affluents”, number 0082-0005. The natural areas recorded in Fontaine-le-Pin are characterised by the quality of their natural habitats and the diversity of the wildlife found there.
Geographical setting
The “Circuit des mondes souterrains” runs through the centre of Fontaine-le-Pin and continues to Bray-en-Cinglais. As a bridleway, it leads from Suisse Normande to the Pays de Falaise.
