History and Culture

In Courseulles-sur-Mer, the Centre Juno Beach presents Canada's civilian and military war effort, as well as the various fronts of the Second World War. Young visitors can follow the family trail “Explore Juno”. From April to October, the Centre also offers guided tours of the bunkers.

Parc Juno is open to all visitors year-round. As a signposted coastal trail, it provides information about the area's natural wealth and historic character. Parc Juno also includes remains of the Atlantic Wall, including a bunker and underground galleries leading to rooms in a former German headquarters.

Coast and Nature

Parc de l’Edit covers 7 hectares and is located in the eastern boundary area of Courseulles-sur-Mer, in a marshland just a few steps from the sea. An equestrian trail leads to the beach through Parc de l’Edit; footpaths cross the park and are suitable for walks.

On the Centre Juno Beach side lies Plage Plaisance, a more natural beach where protected Kentish plovers regularly nest. A Tiralo beach wheelchair is available at every lifeguard station in Courseulles-sur-Mer. Accompanied users can use it to reach the beach, move around there and bathe in calm water.

Waterfront and Paths

Small white beach cabins line the central seafront promenade in Courseulles-sur-Mer, which is 600 metres long. At the end of the harbour of Courseulles-sur-Mer, a wooden pier rebuilt after the war extends out into the sea, offering panoramic views of the beaches and harbour.

The Vélomaritime runs near the central beach of Courseulles-sur-Mer. A dedicated cycle path follows Avenue de la Combattante and runs along the sea from Camping Cap Fun towards Parc de l’Edit. The Croix de Lorraine car park is located at Plage Plaisance, with direct access from the car park to the beach.

Water Sports

The Ecole de Voile in Courseulles-sur-Mer offers courses ranging from beginners’ lessons to sports competition training in land sailing, catamaran sailing, dinghy sailing, windsurfing, stand-up paddleboarding and kayaking, as well as boat licence courses.
