Landscape and nature
Clécy lies in sector 1 of the Natura 2000 area “Vallée de l’Orne et ses affluents”, which contains 18 natural habitats. The Rochers de la Cambronnerie were classified as a scenic and natural site in February 1932.
The 90-metre-high Rochers des Parcs cliff offers more than 120 natural climbing routes of various difficulty levels. The Rochers des Parcs are also among the rock formations along the Clécy loop trail that have been designated as sensitive natural areas and preserved to protect fauna and flora. They offer climbing opportunities for both beginners and experienced climbers.
Hiking, cycling and rock adventures
The 113-kilometre GR de Pays “Tour de la Suisse normande” circular hiking trail passes through Clécy. On the outskirts of the town, the Via Ferrata de la Cambronnerie runs along the Orne. It includes various beams and footbridges, a suspension bridge and a 50-metre-long pedestrian bridge. The Via Ferrata de la Cambronnerie is temporarily closed and is expected to reopen as soon as possible.
The Viaduc de la Lande was built in 1866 on the former railway line between Caen and Flers. It is approximately 30 metres high and almost 100 metres long. Today, the Viaduc de la Lande is part of the Voie verte de la Suisse Normande and a stage of the Vélo Francette, which connects Ouistreham with La Rochelle.
Experiences with trains, water and speed
The Monde Miniature in Clécy features a 310 m² model with interactive controls. The Monde Miniature also includes an approximately ten-minute ride on a Decauville garden railway around former limestone quarries. The restored former lime kilns at the Monde Miniature are part of Clécy’s cultural heritage.
Clécy Gliss offers a 650-metre-long summer toboggan run that passes through the forest and a tunnel. On the Orne, Beau Rivage offers canoeing and kayaking trips over distances of 7 to 28 kilometres. Beau Rivage also rents out pedal boats, rowboats and electric boats on its body of water.
Culture and local flavours
The Musée André Hardy displays more than 100 paintings and other works by the Impressionist painter. Through these works, visitors can discover Suisse Normande. The Church of Saint-Pierre in Clécy dates back to the 15th century in its origins and received imposing transepts and a choir in the 19th century.
The Cave de la Loterie is an organically farmed cider estate in Clécy with 25 hectares of apple and pear orchards. These comprise 30 apple varieties and 6 pear varieties.
