Culture and history

The Église Notre-Dame de Biéville is a Romanesque church built in the 11th and 12th centuries. Its earliest recorded mention dates from 1080 and is found in the so-called Montgomery charter. In 1364, it was converted into a fortress during the Hundred Years’ War.

The Église Saint-Pierre was built in the 11th century and extensively remodeled in the 17th and 19th centuries. Mégalithe dit Les Pierres branlantes is a Neolithic megalith and was classified as a Monument historique by decree of 24 May 1958.

Manoir Balleroy is an 18th-century country house associated with the bourgeoisie of Caen. At Manoir Balleroy, the rear façade, the corresponding roof section, and the decorated grand salon were partially listed as a Monument historique by decree of 27 December 1989. Château de la Lande, with its entrance pavilions and park, was listed as a Monument historique by decree of 28 August 1947.

Landscape

The Grande Roche spur has been inhabited by people since at least the Neolithic period and overlooks the Orne. The ancient port facilities discovered at the foot of the oppidum include a quay, low walls, two jetties, and a stone-paved ramp.

The Parc du château de Biéville is a 10-hectare park in Biéville-Beuville. It has been protected as a classified site by decree of 28 June 1967. An avenue encircling the Parc du château de Biéville is shaded by old oaks, chestnuts, and lime trees.
