Bazenville: Vacation Apartments and Holiday Homes

The Église Saint-Martin de Bazenville is a 13th-century religious building and representative of the Bessin architecture of that period. Its single-nave layout, western bell tower with porch, and eastern rib-vaulted chancel with a flat apse give the building its distinctive appearance. The Église Saint-Martin is partly classified as a historic monument and partly listed as a historic monument.
Culture and History
The Château de la Croix was built around 1727 for Jean-Baptiste Ouzouf de Beaumont. Its east wing was destroyed by the bombings of 1944.
The Manoir dit Ferme de Bazenville ou de l'Eglise is believed to stand on the site of the fortified castle mentioned in 1371. The residential building and the east wing were constructed in the 17th century; the estate also includes a portal made of dressed natural stone.
The Cimetière Militaire Britannique de Bazenville contains 979 graves. It was opened two days after the Allied landings in Normandy.
The monument to Bazenville's Advanced Landing Ground B-2 commemorates the establishment of this forward airfield, construction of which began on June 7, 1944. Airfield B-2 was laid out in the triangle between Bazenville, Crépon, and Villiers-le-Sec.
Food and Drink
The Brasserie – Ferme de la Pommeraye in Bazenville offers farmhouse beer, cider, and apple juice. Everything at the Ferme de la Pommeraye, from sowing the barley and harvesting it to brewing the beer, takes place on site.
At the Brasserie Ferme de la Pommeraye, visitors can tour the brewery, sample its products, and take home products from the Normandy region. Tours are available by reservation; the boutique is available on request.
Routes
The circular hiking trail “Les balcons de la Seulles” passes along the Ryes-Bazenville military cemetery; it also leads to Bazenville.
