At Asnelles Beach, very different layers of history lie side by side: peat, sand and clay preserve evidence dating from the Neolithic period to the Gallo-Roman era. This includes Neolithic flint tools and Gallo-Roman pottery.

History
From Asnelles’ sea wall, remnants of the pontoons of the artificial Mulberry B harbour can be seen.
The original construction of Saint-Martin Church dates back to the 12th century; the nave and its walls featuring herringbone masonry have survived from this period.
The Grange à dîme in Asnelles is an elongated building made of limestone and rubble stone. Its construction is estimated to date from the 14th or 15th century.
On 6 June 1944, from 7:25 a.m. onwards, British infantry units landed at Hamel Asnelles (Jig Green) on Asnelles Beach.

By prior arrangement, Les Sablés d’Asnelles offers tours of its pastry laboratory. Visitors learn about the production process, make their own sablé and can sample the products.
Les Sablés d’Asnelles makes its biscuits using traditional artisanal methods. Fresh eggs are beaten by hand and the biscuits are packaged by hand.
The shop and tea salon at Les Sablés d’Asnelles offer artisan-made biscuits, fine pastries and delicatessen products.
Activities
At Gold Beach in Asnelles, the Club de Loisirs Nautiques d’Asnelles offers land sailing year-round, depending on the tides.
The club also offers 1.5-hour introductory land-sailing courses led by state-qualified instructors.
The Vélomaritime, also known as EuroVelo 4, runs between Arromanches-les-Bains and Ver-sur-Mer via the sea wall at Asnelles. There, this section follows a greenway along the RD514.
Nature
At low tide, peat beds emerge on Asnelles Beach. They contain tree trunks and stumps and bear witness to an ancient forest that was flooded by the sea.
The Quintefeuille Forest, which extended from Arromanches-les-Bains to Luc-sur-Mer, developed 12,000 years ago and was flooded by the sea 7,000 years ago.
