Culture and History
The Château de Wierre-au-Bois was Sainte-Beuve’s summer residence until 1823 and served as the setting for his novel “Volupté”.
The Saint-Omer church contains a set of 16 stained-glass windows. They were made by the glass artists Latteux and Bazin from Mesnil-Saint-Firmin; the choir windows were created in 1888 and the others in 1889.
The Saint-Gengoult devotional fountain structure was rebuilt around the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries on the site of an older fountain recorded on the 1813 cadastral map.
Inside the Saint-Omer church in Wierre-au-Bois is an equestrian statue of Saint-Gendulphe dressed as a Renaissance knight.
