Culture

The chapel of Villers-Châtel Castle was built in 1860 by the Belgian architect Baron Béthune in the neo-Gothic style. Its façades, roofs and interior furnishings were partially listed as a historic monument by decree of 15 June 2004.

A Lourdes grotto is located in the park of the Château de Villers-Châtel. The castle chapel is freely accessible without admission. The Château de Villers-Châtel is a private residence situated in a park open to the public and visible from the road.

The history of the castle also stretches far back: during the siege of Arras in 1414, the Château de Villers-Châtel played an important role. During the First World War, it served as a hospital.

At the stop by the church in Villers-Châtel, the spire features a hook pattern; each hook represents an animal, human or fantastical head.
