Culture and History

Since the Middle Ages, the Château d'Ecou evolved from a medieval fortress into a pleasure palace and acquired a neo-medieval style at the end of the 19th century. The estate includes a wall, a moat with a bridge, a terrace, a park, two access avenues, a kitchen garden and an orchard.

The Église du Sacré Cœur de Tilques has a medieval bell tower that was restored in the mid-19th century.

The church also has a neo-Gothic nave designed by the architect Charles Leroy.

Several historic sites are located in the area around Tilques: the historic Abbaye Saint-Bertin site, the ruins of the Abbaye de Clairmarais, the Tour de l'Abbaye de Watten monument and the Abbaye Sainte-Colombe monastery.

On the Le Lansbergue circular trail, hikers can observe the waterways, or watergangs, surrounding the Lègues of the Audomarois marshland.

Au Relais du Marais offers trips through the marshland by barge, canoe or kayak. It also provides access for people with reduced mobility and has parking spaces.
