Trails and activities
Les Héringaux is a 13.8-kilometre, moderately difficult circular hike lasting 3 hours and 30 minutes, which begins in Roquetoire. The route runs along the Vieux Chemin de Thérouanne, also known as Chemin des Héringaux, and follows the Marais de Warnes. The return route runs along the Liauwette and then leads to the Bois de Ligne.
Cycling is also well represented in Roquetoire: the Entente Cyclotouriste de Roquetoire offers group cycling open to people of all ages. In addition, Roq’VTT offers mountain-biking activities in Roquetoire.
Culture and history
The Château de la Morande was built by the Marquis de Lully at the beginning of the 18th century, mainly from white stone. Another historical trace is the bunker in Roquetoire. During the Second World War, it served as a remote-control post for V2 rockets and was put into operation from 1943 onwards. The bunker is 35 metres long and 22 metres wide.
The Church of Saint Michael replaced a predecessor building that had become too small and was rebuilt in 1871 as a neo-Gothic brick church with three naves. In the church, visitors are shown liturgical objects beneath the processional canopy. The protected collection also includes the processional banner depicting Saint Michael and Saint Sebastian, which has been registered as a protected object since 23 June 1981.
Annual events
At the end of winter, the Salon du terroir takes place annually in Roquetoire, welcoming local producers and craftspeople. In July, the Madeleine-Ducasse includes fairground attractions and a concert by the brass band. The village festival in October also includes fairground attractions and a concert by the brass band.
