Reclinghem: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The 7.9-kilometre Les Romains circular trail, which can be walked, starts in Reclinghem. It leads through the bocage landscape along the banks of the Lys and up to hills lined with the Haute Lys wind turbines. On a hillside in Reclinghem, the trail passes a concrete cross approximately 20 metres high. The cross is regarded as a sign of recognition for a soldier who returned home safely in 1942. Culture
The Church of Saint Firmin preserves several historical traces: its oldest part is the tower dating from 1682, while the choir was extended around 1700 through a public collection. The church also contains the Albertine Noémie Marie bell from 1880.
At the Le Village site, the first significant settlement in Reclinghem dates back to the 10th to 11th century, the beginning of the Middle Ages. Archaeological excavations there revealed an almost continuous human settlement from the Middle Ages to the present day. The early settlement included several large wooden buildings.
Relics from the First World War found at the Le Village site include ammunition, tin cans and glass bottles. They are associated with British soldiers who buried their waste at a staging point between the Côte d’Opale and the Artois Front.
