History and fortifications
Fort de l’Heurt was built by Napoleon Bonaparte in 1803. Several rooms in the Alprech fortifications can be visited, including the accommodation for the troops, the powder magazine, the lamp room and rooms beneath the traverse walls. The Alprech battery was built between 1875 and 1880 to protect the port of Boulogne.
