Culture and History
The former church of Landrethun-le-Nord, dating from the early 18th century, was destroyed by bombs during the Second World War.
The present-day Saint-Martin Church was built from 1958 to 1961 according to plans by the architect Joseph Philippe, who was a pupil of Dom Bellot. It features red facing brickwork, a slate roof, a covered porch and a freestanding campanile.
The Danse des Neuches in Landrethun-le-Nord is a stone circle that occupied archaeologists and historians for a long time. The stones are located on enclosed private property, but can be seen from Rue des Noces.
Paths and Traditions
The Chemin des Poissonniers is part of the GR145 “Via Francigena”.
The Fontaine des Neuches is a spring associated with the Neuches stones and located on the left side of the road towards Ferques. It is freely accessible from the road and is located slightly more than 150 metres from the stones.
According to local tradition, the spring could offer true believers an excellent drink on the night before Saint John’s Day in summer, precisely at midnight; for this, one had to be fasting and in a state of grace.

The Plan d’eau and its ancillary facilities can be reserved through the Landrethun-le-Nord town hall; an appointment with the person responsible is arranged for this purpose. Fishing trips at the Plan d’eau can be arranged with ADAL Pêche for an additional charge. As part of a reservation, access to the 3,700 m² basin can take place under the supervision of a representative of ADAL Pêche.
Nature
The privately owned slope near the Forteresse de Mimoyecques can only be explored as part of guided tours organised by the Communauté de communes de La terre des 2 caps or the Conservatoire. Every winter, the Forteresse de Mimoyecques is home to around 350 bats from up to 11 species; it therefore remains closed to the public from mid-October to mid-April to protect the hibernating bats.
