Farbus: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Farbus lies at the foot of the Crête de Vimy and is one of the most heavily forested villages in the Communauté Urbaine d’Arras. The wooded areas are suitable for hiking and cycling and provide a habitat for various bird species, including owls, buzzards, swallows and magpies.

Hiking and Nature

The Communauté Urbaine d’Arras lists Le Saint-Ranulphe, the Sentier de Saint-Ranulphe, as a 9 km hiking route in Farbus. The trail passes the church, the Fontaine de Saint Ranulphe with its legend, several panoramic viewpoints over the surrounding area and concrete shelters from the First World War.

Farbus also offers Rando-Histo hikes along former First World War defence lines to former trenches in the woods.

History and Village Character

Farbus was occupied by German troops from 1914 to 1917 and was recaptured during the Canadian attack from 9 to 12 April 1917. This historical legacy is also reflected in the surviving sites: Farbus preserves Orchard Dump Cemetery as well as a military section in the municipal cemetery.

The Church of Saint Ranulphe has an impressive gable featuring a depiction of Christ in the Art Deco style. Guided village tours with local village or area guides are offered in Farbus.

Local Traditions
