Estréelles combines a distinctive church history with traces of its Protestant past and preserved milling technology. At the same time, the village borders the right bank of the Course.
Culture and history
The Church of Saint-Omer has a three-sided choir, built in 1779, as well as an older nave. In 1862, it received a wooden roof turret or tower structure and a sacristy added to the choir. Baroness Morand financed extensive renovations of the church in 1884.
The mill of Estréelles also preserves historic technical details: its turbine mechanism is connected by a metal shaft to the flour mill. The facility also bears witness to craft and industrial activities in the 18th and 19th centuries.
Another chapter in the village's history is linked to a Seigneur of Estréelles who converted to Protestantism in the 16th century. He had a fortified manor house built, which served as a place of worship for the Protestants of the surrounding area. Conflicts between Protestants and Catholics led to the closure of the Fort of Estréelles; it was later converted into a barn.
The 15th-century manor house known as “Le Temple” was demolished in 1970. Its foundations are still preserved.

The location on the Course is also reflected in the route of “Les Trois Vallées”: after crossing the Course, it leads to Estréelles. The cycling options also include the 35 km, moderately difficult “La Chartreuse” circular cycling route from Montreuil-sur-Mer. Estréelles is one of the places that can be discovered along this circuit; the stated average duration is 2 hours and 50 minutes.
