The Jardin de la Paix is a green space in the heart of Douvrin. The banks of the Canal d'Aire are suitable for walks and cycling tours. When planning a trip to Douvrin, you may wish to rent a holiday apartment.
Nature
In the centre of Douvrin, the Jardin de la Paix has swings, slides and climbing frames for children. The Chemin des cavaliers was a former railway line, now vanished, that passed through several surrounding towns and today enables numerous hikes. Along the Chemin des cavaliers, the Parcours santé has several pieces of sports equipment for outdoor activities.
The Parc Marcel Cabiddu was one of the first former mining sites to be transformed into a leisure area. Today, it is an expansive natural area with a pond and several kilometres of walking paths.
Culture
On the first Tuesday of each month, the Salle Lirdeman becomes a cinema. It offers film screenings specially selected for senior citizens at 3 p.m., as well as cinema screenings for the general public at 8 p.m. All activities at the Centre multimédia in Douvrin are free of charge.
The Monument aux Morts in Douvrin is a memorial site for the municipality's commemorative ceremonies. A chalice in the Sacré-Coeur church in Douvrin is listed as a protected object; this listing took place on 25 November 1985.
Events
The annual 14 July celebration in Douvrin includes a traditional parade in the morning, in which the municipal band plays a central role, and ends with a traditional fireworks display at Stade Jean Magré. At the Fête du Sport, local sports activities are presented at stands run by sports clubs, including basketball, football, twirling bâton and dance.
The Jardin de la Paix regularly hosts outdoor events, including night markets. The night market in Douvrin has already taken place for the tenth time.
Regional specialities
Bière-Feest is a fair in Douvrin for beer and specialities from the Hauts-de-France region.
