Beugny in the Pas-de-Calais département combines a Catholic village church with several notable memorials to the First World War. The Église Saint-Géry is a Catholic religious building in the municipality of Beugny. The “Poilu au repos” war memorial is located near the church. The Beugny war memorial features a statue of a resting poilu.
The historic villagescape also includes Beugny Churchyard and German Extension. It contains the graves of 46 soldiers from the United Kingdom, six Australian soldiers, 19 French soldiers and 183 German soldiers. Beugny German Cemetery was located in the north-western quarter of the village and contained the graves of five Australian soldiers, four soldiers from the United Kingdom and 831 German soldiers.
Another trace of the war's history is Delsaux Farm. It was a point in the German defence system known as the Beugny-Ytres Line. Delsaux Farm Cemetery contains 495 graves and commemorations of casualties of the First World War.
History
Red Cross Corner Cemetery is also closely connected with the events of that period. The cemetery is located on the western side of the village, south of the N30; CWGC signs on the N30 point to the cemetery. It contains 219 graves and commemorations of Commonwealth casualties of the First World War. At Red Cross Corner Cemetery, Plot I, except for Row K, was laid out between April 1917 and March 1918 by field ambulances and fighting units.
Delsaux Farm Cemetery is signposted and is located one kilometre from the T-junction from Beugny on the RD20 towards Haplincourt.
