Wignehies lies on both sides of the Helpe-Mineure River. The municipality is also the only one in the Fagne de Trélon that is not surrounded by forest. South of the town centre, the landscape consists of a succession of valleys with clusters of farms.

Nature
The Sentier Nature et Paysage leads through the bocage landscape of Thiérache. Elevated points offer panoramic views of the surrounding bocage landscape and forests. The circular route is very easy, 4.3 kilometres long and takes 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Culture and History
Part of the town's history is linked to the wool and textile industry: in 1886, Wignehies had five spinning mills and three weaving mills. The mainly urban family route Sentier Architecture conveys the industrial and textile past of Wignehies through its architectural heritage. It is designed as a very easy 3.1-kilometre circular route and takes 2 hours.
The local architecture includes the Église Saint-Étienne. It was rebuilt in 1890 and inaugurated in 1892, replacing the former church, which had been destroyed after the fire of 1675. The carved furnishings inside are attributed to Gustave Pattein. Wignehies' industrial heritage also includes the entrance portico of the former Filature François Boussus.
Other religious landmarks include an oratory from 1742 dedicated to Notre-Dame de Montague, as well as a chapel dating from 1683 dedicated to Jesus and Notre-Dame de Montserrat.

A market selling fruit, vegetables and dairy products is held on Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Place François Mitterrand.
