Culture and history
The Église Saint-Martin in Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon dates from a reconstruction carried out in 1746; its bell tower was renovated in 2016. The Vierge à l’Enfant statue in the church has been listed as a protected object since 6 March 1973.
The Ferme de Court-à -Rieux is also part of the village’s historical heritage: it was formerly a dependency of Saint-Sauveur d’Anchin Abbey. The Courtarieux estate has been documented since 1547. The Ferme de Court-à -Rieux is still used for agricultural purposes; part of the historic complex is used as holiday accommodation, guest rooms and an event hall.
Village landscape
The Chapelle Sainte-Philomène is located in Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon on Rue Villars, behind the stadium and behind the village sign at the edge of the village. The Calvaire of Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon is located at a junction of Rue Villars, the Chemin de Vertain, the path to Sainte Zette and the Chemin de l’Obérue.
The Chapelle Notre-Dame in the Sainte Zette hamlet is symbolically located on the 100-metre elevation contour in Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon and is one of the highest points in the municipality. From there, the view extends for more than 30 kilometres. The chapel was probably built at the end of the 19th century on a Celtic place of worship.

The A.A.P.P.M.A. « L’INDÉPENDANTE » organises trout fishing on the rivers of the Écaillon Valley in Bermerain and Saint-Martin-sur-Écaillon.
