Fourmies lies at the intersection of the Nord and Aisne departments, the Ardennes and Belgium. At the same time, the town is located in the Thiérache bocage and the Avesnois Regional Nature Park.

Nature
Les Étangs des Moines includes an 871-hectare forest. At Les Étangs des Moines, it is possible to take walks and hikes through the forest on foot, by bicycle or on horseback. There are also zip lines there for older or taller visitors.
The circular hiking trail Circuit pédestre des Etangs des Moines is 4 kilometres long and takes about one hour. Opposite the first pond at Les Étangs des Moines stands the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Bois, dedicated to the Virgin Mary. Les Jumelles are two oak trees dating from around 1785; they are approximately 30 metres high and have a circumference of 5.70 metres.
Culture
The Musée du Textile et de la Vie Sociale in Fourmies is housed in a former spinning mill. It traces the development of textile work from the 19th century to the present day.
