Culture and History

The Sainte-Aldegonde church contains a painted wooden crucifix made in the 15th century, which is classified as a protected historic object. It also has an 18th-century high altar with a tabernacle, reredos and a painting of the Crucifixion, which is listed as a protected object. In addition, it contains a polychrome wooden statue of Saint Roch from the 17th century, which is listed as a protected object.

The Sainte-Aldegonde oratory on Rue de Landignies is considered the oldest oratory in the arrondissement and bears the date 1681. The Notre-Dame des Bois chapel stands at Fond-de-Gouttes in the hamlet of Comagne, on a slope on the right bank of the Hantes; the Belgian border is only a few metres away.

The Fort de Cerfontaine is located in the vicinity of Bousignies-sur-Roc and is listed as a fort. The Fort du Bourdiau is also located nearby and is listed as a fort. There were two marble sawmills on the Hante in the 19th century: one at Petit Fayau and one at Terme du Mont. A memorial stele in Bousignies-sur-Roc commemorates the crash of Lancaster LL839 of 626 Squadron on the night of 26 March 1944.
