Verfeil: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Culture

The Église Saint-Blaise is a 16th-century church of the Languedoc type, with a single-nave layout, side chapels and a seven-sided apse. Its apse is decorated with murals by Gabriel Béringuier; the paintings in the nave are by Céroni and depict the twelve apostles.

Outside the walls of Verfeil's historic centre stands the Église Saint-Sernin-des-Rais, a 15th-century church. It was a subsidiary church of the parish church of Saint-Blaise in Verfeil and is listed as a historical monument.

The Musée du Pays Verfeillois has an area dedicated to the “Model Little Girls”, with several objects that belonged to Camille and Madeleine. It also preserves relics from the former Cathar town. The Musée du Pays Verfeillois can be visited by appointment.

History

The Citadelle of Verfeil is a 15th-century brick structure and forms part of the remains of a fortified complex. It is probably identical to the castle that stood in Verfeil during the Albigensian Crusade. Since 27 May 1952, the exterior façades on the west, north and east sides have been partially listed as a historical monument.

The Porte Vauraise is a brick gateway dating from the late 16th or early 17th century and formed part of Verfeil's former fortifications. It belongs to a group of three town gates that also includes the Porte des Clottes and the Porte du Trou du Loup. The façades and roofs of the Porte Vauraise have been partially listed as a historical monument since 26 April 1961.

The Moulin de Nagasse was rebuilt in 1699–1700, although its existence has been documented since the 14th century. On 8 April 1971, it was added to France's supplementary list of historical monuments. The Moulin de Nagasse is a watermill in Verfeil and is recorded in the national inventory of mills in France.

Trails

The Sentier du Souvenir is a 6-kilometre circular trail that begins in Verfeil. Along the route, information panels describe the history of Camille and Madeleine de Malaret and their family.

The Conques–Toulouse GR46 route passes through Verfeil, one of eight municipalities in the Coteaux du Girou area through which this section runs. The section of the Conques–Toulouse route in the Coteaux du Girou area is a 33-kilometre nature trail.

Nature

Lac de la Balerme covers 39 hectares and can be reached from the territories of the municipalities of Verfeil and Teulat. A 6-kilometre circular trail leads around Lac de la Balerme. The lake provides a refuge for more than 30 bird species.
