Landscape and Water
The 4.5 km circular path around Lac de Saint-Ferréol is suitable for a family outing and runs in the shade of the pine trees. At Lac de Saint-Ferréol, which stretches across Revel, Sorèze and Vaudreuille as well as the départements of Tarn, Aude and Haute-Garonne, the leisure centre offers stand-up paddleboarding, windsurfing, canoeing or kayaking and pedal boating in summer; swimming is supervised in July and August.
Culture and History
The present-day Church of Saint John the Baptist was built in 1886 in the centre of Vaudreuille on the banks of the Laudot. It preserves stained-glass windows and liturgical furnishings that came from donations by the brother of Maurice Van de Gent, the Bishop of Rotterdam, after the cathedral there was destroyed during the German invasion in 1940.
The Saint-Ferréol Dam is the oldest of the reservoirs of the Canal du Midi and was built between 1667 and 1680. Located in the municipalities of Revel and Vaudreuille, the dam is protected as a historic monument; it was listed by decree dated 13 March 1997.
Of the former village of Saint-Martin de Vaudreuille, the stone walls and bell gable of a small pre-Romanesque church remain near the cemetery. Saint-Martin Chapel dates from around the year 1000; its 15th-century frescoes have been listed in the inventory of historic monuments since 1948.
Maison Get was completed in 1902; parts of its interiors were designed in the Art Nouveau style. Maison Get, also known as Château de Lancastre, is a large house overlooking Lac de Saint-Ferréol in Vaudreuille.
The bridge with a washhouse and cattle trough in Vaudreuille is a rare and well-preserved structure that combines these three functions.
Orientation
An orientation board is located above the gliding centre on Chemin d’En Roujou. The former National Gliding Centre of the Montagne Noire also extends into Vaudreuille.
Saint-Martin Chapel and the cemetery are now located outside the village of Vaudreuille on a small hill overlooking the village.
