Culture
La Chapelle Saint-Jacques bears the label “Centre d’art contemporain d’intérêt national” and is an artistic laboratory. Its tasks include programming, producing contemporary works, promoting and disseminating visual art in the Comminges, Volvestre and Luchonnais areas in the south of Haute-Garonne.
The Arts&Figures Museum presents ceramics made in Saint-Gaudens in the 19th century, as well as paintings by André Rixens. It is housed in the former town hall of Saint-Gaudens.
Les Haras regularly hosts theatre and other performances from the respective season, as well as companies in working residencies. The Collegiate Church of Saint-Pierre-et-Saint-Gaudens is a representative example of regional Romanesque art.
Cuisine
The local producers’ market takes place on Saturday mornings at Place Jean-Jaurès and offers fruit, vegetables, plants, cheese, baked goods and seasonal products. La Halle Gourmande brings together five food retailers and invites visitors to get to know them, share their expertise and taste their products.
Water
The Complexe Aqualudique has a 25-metre stainless-steel pool both indoors and outdoors. There is also a learning and activity pool, a whirlpool, four Pentagliss slides and a water slide.
A children’s play area includes a paddling pool and water fountains.
The Complexe Aqualudique offers swimming, aquagym, water familiarisation, as well as scuba diving and freediving.
Nature and trails
Lac de Sède is fed by the Garonne and can be reached on foot from Saint-Gaudens town centre via a secure path; the route is approximately 4 km long. A path runs along the banks of the Garonne; the banks are classified as a Natura 2000 site.
Saint-Gaudens has the GR Via Garona and circular hiking trails. There is also a cycle path and circular cycling routes. Saint-Gaudens can be reached without a car by TER Occitanie trains and LiO Occitanie buses.
