Culture and History
The Château de Valmirande and its park have been classified as historic monuments since 14 December 1992. The Château de Valmirande was inspired by the Château de Chambord; its foundation stone was laid on 16 October 1893. Visits are possible year-round by prior arrangement for groups of ten or more, while individuals can join groups.
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Montréjeau has John the Baptist and Saint Bartholomew as its two patron saints. One element of its 18th-century altarpiece features three bas-reliefs: the marriage of Joseph and Mary, the Adoration of the Magi, and the Presentation in the Temple. This altarpiece element was registered as a protected object on 12 November 1997.
The market hall of Montréjeau was built from concrete and glass in 1937. It is classified as a historic monument and bears the 20th-century “Architecture contemporaine remarquable” designation. The bridge over the Garonne in Montréjeau also dates from 1773 and is classified as a historic monument.
Golf and Market
Golf du Comminges has an approved 9-hole course and a compact 5-hole course. Its offerings include one-week courses, a golf school on Saturdays, a practice facility, competitions throughout the year, and equipment rental.
