L’Occit’Ânerie is an educational farm in the municipality of Le Born, in the hills of Villemur-sur-Tarn. Visitors can get to know the farm animals and discover an area dedicated to growing vegetables. The farm offers numerous activities centred around animals, vegetable growing and general farm work, as well as various workshops depending on the season.
“Les collines du Born” is a 17.3 km route with two loops that begins in the hilltop village of Le Born. A large section runs along roads, so the route is particularly suitable for cyclists with trekking bikes. Before returning to the village centre, it passes Lac du Born, where you can take a refreshing break.
Culture and History
The Église Sainte-Foy is built entirely of brick, dates from the 14th century and was remodelled in the 17th and 20th centuries. Inside, the keystones of the vaults bear a coat of arms from 1682; the choir is decorated with chamfered arches and columns with floral or figurative capitals. The church also has a fortified façade with false machicolations. A staircase to the dovecote bell tower is located in a round tower at the south-eastern corner.
The airport can be reached from Le Born via the D14 and the A62 in approximately 35 to 40 minutes.
