Culture

The village church of Lagardelle-sur-Lèze was built in the 12th century. Its preserved features include four entrance columns and a wooden portal. The 17th-century stained-glass windows were restored and reinstalled. Two surviving bells are also part of the building’s history: they date from 1523.

History

The Château des Sœurs was built approximately between 1471 and 1493 at the southern end of the main street. It stands opposite the church and the former fortress, which was demolished in 1788. The Château du Vignaou was built in 1711 by the De Villepigue family, one of the co-lords of Lagardelle. Its façades feature terracotta decorations from the famous Virebent brickworks in Launaguet.

Cultural Life

Since 2024, La Grange has been a cultural café in Lagardelle-sur-Lèze and offers a varied cultural programme. The cultural café also hosts the traditional Sunday event “Dictée du Dimanche”. The Lagardelle-sur-Lèze media library is located on Rue du Château du Vignaou.
