Culture

The Château de Castagnac is listed as a historic monument. In its present form, it has a rectangular layout with four round corner towers and displays the characteristics of a 14th-century medieval castle that was remodelled during the French Renaissance. Along the route, the Château de Castagnac can be admired as a sight.

The Church of Saint Sebastian was built in the 15th century and modified during various later periods. It is connected to a bell gable (clocher-mur), which is considered typical of the Midi toulousain.

The Castagnac festival committee organises an annual village festival. The programme of a village festival in Castagnac included an amateur triplette pétanque competition and an evening meal with traditional cassoulet. On 26 July 2020, Castagnac celebrated Saint Sebastian, the parish's patron saint.

Nature

The Lèze and other watercourses cross Castagnac. The area features hilly landscapes and preserved biodiversity. The landscape is characterised by the steep slopes of the hills and the hilly terrain of the Volvestre.

Les Grandes Écuries de Castagnac has six bedrooms and includes a 1.5-hectare, tree-filled park.

Geographical location

The RD929, known as the RD626 in Ariège, crosses Castagnac from north to south in the east. The RD25 runs from east to west through the southern part of the Castagnac area.
