Culture

The historical monuments in Bagiry include the Chapelle Notre Dame-de-Vignes from the 15th century and the Église Saint-Hilaire. The small Romanesque church dates from the 12th century. Its 18th-century altarpiece depicts an Annunciation, a Visitation and the Coronation of the Virgin.

The Musée archéologique départemental, a museum, is located in the vicinity of Bagiry. The Basilique Saint-Just and the Cathédrale Notre-Dame, both churches, are also nearby. Further afield in the region of Bagiry lies the Abbaye de Bonnefont en Comminges, a historic site.

Nature

Bagiry is part of the ZNIEFF “Rochers calcaires et milieux associés du Mail de Maubourg à la Montagne de Gert”, a type 1 continental area. The limestone massif of the ZNIEFF includes the Mail de Maubourg, the bois de Bagiry, the montagne de Gert and the area around the grotte de Soupène.

Several peaks are located in the immediate vicinity of Bagiry: the Sommet de Chay, the Sommet d'Herbe Rouge, Gouardère and the Sommet de Cot de Coudous.

Activities

The V81 cycle route runs through Bagiry between Bertren and Sainte-Marie. It is a 97 km circular route with a duration of approximately 5 hours and 30 minutes. Bagiry also offers walks in the mountains.

Transport

The Bagiry-Cimetière stop is served by the Luchon–Montréjeau–Saint-Gaudens lines.
