Culture and History

The Notre-Dame-de-Bonne-Garde Church was built in 1346 and is the only surviving building in the Upper Town. It is protected as a historic monument and contains an organ, rich 18th-century furnishings, and two sculptures by Ipoustéguy. Its features also include stained-glass windows, tomb slabs, traces of old paintings, and listed 18th-century furnishings.

The fortified village of Dun-le-Chastel has preserved numerous traces of its medieval defense system. Pont Pershing commemorates the crossing of the Meuse by the 5th Infantry Division in November 1918. Le Chateau, an ancient site, is located in the area around Dun-sur-Meuse. Further afield in the region are Abbaye de Belval-Bois-des-Dames, a historic site, Abbaye Notre-Dame de Chéhéry, also a historic site, and Fort de Bois Bourrus, a fort.
