Culture and History

The Church of Saint-Memmie features three construction phases from the 12th, 16th and 19th centuries. Its bells are made of bronze and have wrought-iron clappers; the wooden bell yokes have been preserved in their original form.

The first written mention of the names Cousances and Cousancelles is found in a document from 1311. At the Château de l'Isle, the monumental fireplace was classified by decree of 11 March 1927.

Water and Activities

The Cousance is a first-category fishing river. Angling on the Cousance in Cousances-les-Forges is practised by the AAPPMA “La Saumonée”.

The Boucle de la Pierre mountain-bike loop leads as far as Rue André Lebland; from there, the church can be seen. On the Boucle de la Pierre mountain-bike loop, the route also crosses a small bridge over the Bezerne.
