The Saint-Cyr and Sainte-Julitte Church in Pia is first mentioned in 991.

Culture and History

The Notre-Dame de la Salut Chapel was the parish church of the former hamlet of Ortolanes. The hamlet disappeared, but the chapel was preserved.

Notre-Dame de la Salut was restored in 1986 and converted into a recreational space accessible to all residents of Pia.

The chapel consists of a single nave with a semicircular apse set into a straight wall; the door jambs are thought to date from the 12th century.

Pia Castle was rebuilt in 1242. A fortified stone gate dating from 1249 has been preserved.

The Sainte-Anne Oratory is located at 1 rue Sainte-Anne, at the corner of avenue de Bompas.

The year 1869 is displayed beneath the niche at the Sainte-Anne Oratory; the oratory was renovated around 2013.

Pia can be reached via the A9 motorway, “La Catalane”. Exit 41, “Perpignan centre – Aéroport de Rivesaltes – Le Barcarès”, is 2 km from Pia.

The Véloroute du Piémont Pyrénéen runs from the D1 at Claira through Pia towards Perpignan and passes through the village of Pia.
