Nature
Porta is one of the municipalities included in the Capcir, Carlit et Campcardos Natura 2000 site. On the northern slope of the Vallée du Campcardos is the largest and highest birch forest in the Pyrénées-Orientales department. The Vallée du Campcardos valley is botanically rich along the hiking trail.
Hiking
The La Carolane trail connects Pas de la Case in Andorra with the municipality of Puigcerda in Spain. La Carolane has numerous starting points, junctions, and local circular trails.

Culture and History
The Château de Carol is a castle and defensive complex in Porta. It was a fortress intended to control the Carol Valley. Today, essentially two tall, solid square towers and a small section of the surrounding walls remain of the Château de Carol.
The Église Saint-Jean-Baptiste in Porta is dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. The Chapelle Saint-Martial is located in the hamlet of Cortvassill, slightly above Porta along the RN20.
