Osséja is located at an altitude of 1,200 metres at the foot of the Puigmal massif. The town is part of the Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées-Catalanes.

Nature
Below Osséja lies a tranquil body of water with several landscaped areas, including picnic and barbecue areas. In summer, the lake has pedal boats, inflatable games and a landscaped recreational area.
Hiking
PR 86 “La Boucle des Orgues” is a 5.4-kilometre, two-hour, very easy circular hike in Osséja. The route leads to unusual sculptures in the Catalan mountains that were formed by erosion over time.
Thirteen hikes are listed for the Osséja forest. Two hiking guides are sold at Osséja Town Hall.
The PR 92 hiking route, “La Marche des Contrebandiers”, runs from Osséja along the Vanéra to Castellar de n’Hug.
Culture
The former church of Osséja has been documented since the 9th century, during the Carolingian period. The Église Saint-Pierre d’Osséja contains a painted panel from a polyptych depicting Saint Sebastian, Saint Anthony Abbot and John the Baptist. The painted panel has been classified as a protected cultural object since 10 September 2012.
In 2026, a permanent exhibition was opened in Osséja in honour of Daniel Delestré, a prominent figure in the municipality who was passionate about cinema and served as mayor from 2001 to 2019. The Daniel Delestré exhibition is free and open to the public; it is located on the first floor of the community centre next to the cinema entrance.
Le Puigmal cinema is open year-round from Tuesday to Sunday.
Events
Festi' lac takes place every year in the third week of August in Osséja.
