Le Barcares: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

At the centre of La Ferme du Barcarès is a 1,500 m³ aviary. More than 300 animals are to be seen on the 2-hectare grounds of La Ferme du Barcarès; pony rides are also planned, and visitors can feed the animals.

Culture

The permanent exhibition “Fa temps el Barcarès” presents the lives of fishermen from 1850 to 1950 through photographs, documents and fishing equipment. The present-day Village des Pêcheurs was recreated to preserve the roots of Le Barcarès and the traditional fishing craft. The Village des Pêcheurs serves as a venue for traditional festivals, exhibitions, book signings by Catalan authors and events relating to Catalan culture.

The Maison des Arts in Le Barcarès focuses on a different subject each month with exhibitions and debates. In Port-Barcarès, Le Lydia was one of the elements selected for a cultural heritage label.

The Vélosud greenway begins in the village of Le Barcarès and follows a secured, dedicated route towards Rivesaltes.

Nature

The Site des Dosses is a refuge for biodiversity on the Étang de Salses-Leucate. There is an interpretive trail at the Site des Dosses. More than 200 plant species and 50 bird species may be found there, including several protected or noteworthy species.
