Brouilla lies in the Tech Valley at the foot of the Albères Massif. The municipality is included in the ZNIEFF Vallée du Tech de Céret à Ortaffa, which covers an approximately 20-kilometre section of the Tech.
Landscape
The area between Brouilla and the river is devoted to fruit growing and vegetable cultivation. The small plateaus north of Brouilla are entirely devoted to viticulture, which is by far the municipality's most important crop. Around Brouilla, the landscape features olive trees, abundant reeds and garrigue; wild asparagus grows there in spring.

On a summer evening, Vinya Cabrera can be reached via a small asphalt road that branches off from and climbs up the road to Bages after the railway crossing. From Vinya Cabrera, the Albères appear behind the greenery of the vineyards and trees.
Culture
The Église Sainte-Marie is a small Romanesque building with a single-nave layout and a comparatively rare trefoil-shaped apse. Its portal is made of white marble with grey veining and is a classic work of the Romanesque workshops of Roussillon. There is also an octagonal fountain in the centre of Brouilla.
The Castell d'Ultrera, a castle, is located in the vicinity of Brouilla. Also nearby are the Prieuré Notre-Dame du Vilar (1083–1790), a monastery, the Castell de Requesens, a castle, and the Palace of the Kings of Majorca, a palace.
On the way to Mas Tardiu, some stone remains bear witness to the fact that Brouilla was inhabited long ago.

The vicinity of Brouilla also includes Pla del Rei, a peak, Puig de Sant Miquel, a peak, Puig Nalt, a peak, and Pic Estelle, a peak.
At the nearby riverbed of the Tech, you can cool off and stroll along its now-protected, natural banks. On 5 July 2026, the cycling tour La Cami dels Aspres was scheduled to take place in Brouilla; it was organised by Vélo Club Brouilla 66.
