Nature

Lac de Saint-Farriol was created from a former bauxite quarry and developed into a tranquil natural area. Swimming is not permitted there. The Villeveyrac-Montagnac plain has been designated a Natura 2000 site since 2006. It provides protection for 14 to 15 bird species protected at European level and is home to almost a quarter of the French population of the lesser kestrel. Villeveyrac is also associated with the Natura 2000 bird protection area “Garrigues de la Moure et d'Aumelas”.

The Balade des Gueules Rouges is an easy, 6.2-kilometre circular route starting in Villeveyrac. It passes Lac de Saint-Farriol, goes through the garrigue and past capitelles, and offers panoramic views of the Thau Lagoon, Sète and Mont Saint-Clair. The area around Villeveyrac is also suitable for walks and hikes along capitelles, shady paths and viewpoints overlooking the lagoon.

Valmagne Abbey was founded in 1139 by Raymond Trencavel, the Viscount of Béziers, in the municipality of Villeveyrac.
