Vailhan: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vailhan is the starting point for the cultural heritage trail to the Tibéret watermills. The route is just under 9 kilometres long and leads to the discovery of a former Templar relay station. A free activity to the Église de Vailhan, offered year-round, starts at Place du Boulodrome.

Water and Trails

The lake at the Domaine des Olivettes is equipped for walking, mountain biking and fishing, subject to the applicable regulations. Several picnic tables are available at the Domaine des Olivettes. Swimming is possible at the Barrage et lac des Olivettes, but there is no lifeguard supervision.

The Sentier des Olivettes starts and ends in Vailhan and offers views of the shimmering Lac des Olivettes.

Nature

A marked path from the car park at the Domaine des Olivettes leads to a relatively flat basalt summit, formed by ancient lava flows extending from the Lodévois to Cap d’Agde.

The ZNIEFF “Vallons de la rive gauche du lac des Olivettes” encompasses the Peyne River for approximately one kilometre upstream and downstream of the Lac des Olivettes. The continental type 1 ZNIEFF “Vallons de la rive gauche du lac des Olivettes” lies within the municipalities of Vailhan, Cabrières and Montesquieu.

Culture

The Romanesque Église Sainte-Marie has been mentioned since the 12th century. The ruins of the Château on the Castellas rock, whose summit they crown, have also been mentioned since the 12th century. The Capitelles are among Vailhan’s attractions.
