Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens is a circulade village situated on a rocky promontory. Within the medieval village stands the Maison des Consuls, a 14th-century house. The parish church of Sainte-Marie et Saint-Pons and the remains of the former castle form an ensemble that was listed as a historic monument by decree of 7 April 2005. The church is also a significant example of Occitan Romanesque architecture on the site of the former castle.
The local traditions are also part of the character of the place: the dogs depicted on the village coat of arms are celebrated during the Malicanes as part of the village festival in August.

Nature
Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens is one of the five municipalities in the Natura 2000 area “Plaine de Villeveyrac-Montagnac”. A rare colony of lesser kestrels nests beneath the roof tiles of the village. From early April to the end of August, visitors can observe these birds from the viewing point in the village centre.
The viewpoints around Saint-Pons-de-Mauchiens offer views of the garrigue, vineyards, the Monts de l’Espinouse and the foothills of the Larzac. The Chapelle Notre-Dame d’Espérance is situated among pine trees and offers a panoramic view of the village.
