Puisserguier is a historic village laid out in the form of a circulade: the houses are arranged in a spiral around the château. Culture and History
The Écomusée de la Vie d’Autrefois is housed in Puisserguier’s former girls’ school, which served as the village school from 1871 to 1996. More than 3,500 objects are on display at the museum; self-guided or guided tours are available.
The Galerie aux Images displays restored medieval ceiling panels (closoirs) from the painted ceiling of the Maison du Viguier. Guided tours of the fortified complex are offered at the Château de Puisserguier, and the Galerie aux Images is also accessible from the castle courtyard.
Hiking and Landscapes
The red-and-white-marked GR 787, the Chemin de Fontcaude, runs through Puisserguier. It connects the Voie d’Arles with the Voie des Piémonts and runs for 66 kilometres from Saint-Gervais-sur-Mare to Capestang; the route is completed over three days.
The Le Prieuré de Saint-Christophe hike in Puisserguier is an 11.5-kilometre circular route with a duration of 4 hours and 30 minutes. It leads to a chapel set in a pine forest and offers views stretching from the Pyrenees to the coast.
Wine, Oil and Festivals
Domaine Pech de Saint-Paul offers a vineyard tour on the theme “Vin et Garrigue – mariage heureux” and explains the influence of garrigue plants on the wine produced. At its tasting room in Puisserguier, Domaine Pech de Saint-Paul offers wine tastings.
Lo Moulinet showcases various oils made from traditional varieties of the Béziers region. A video shows how olive oil is produced, and the press, which is still in operation, is used to make oils.
A local association launched the Fête de la Clémentine as an iconic festival held in May. In December, British Christmas is also one of the iconic festivals launched by a local association.
