Puilacher: Holiday apartments and houses

Puilacher is situated on a hill known as the Puech. At the same time, the village is a fortified town at a crossroads, giving it the character of a castrum with a concentric layout.

Culture and history

The Église de la Sainte-Trinité is a Romanesque church that was fortified in the 14th century. It is attached to the château and appears to have developed from the former castle chapel, which later became the parish church. The church also contains two paintings by Auguste Barthélemy Glaize.

In its current layout, the château in Puilacher consists of two structures arranged in a T-shape; one of its walls is attached to the church. It has been listed as a historic monument since 1984.

Another example of the village’s architecture is a modern house with a monumental façade, built in the early 1920s and representative of Art Nouveau. Puilacher has been documented in written records since the end of the 11th century.

Cycling

The 22 km “Boucle de la vallée dorée” cycling route connects Puilacher with Le Pouget, Vendémian, Plaissan, Belarga and Tressan. It is accessible to VTCs and hybrid bikes. The route also has a freely accessible self-service station for inflating and repairing bicycles.

Wine and village scenery

The new Caveau of the “Mas des Olivettes” on Avenue Notre Dame de Rouviège welcomes visitors for wine tasting.

The vineyards of Domaine du Pioch extend across the terraces along the riverbank. Domaine du Pioch has been growing vines, vinifying its wines and ageing them for four generations.
