Montouliers: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Montouliers lies between the two major appellations of Minervois and Saint-Chinian. From Montouliers Hill and the church tower, the view extends to the Monts du Narbonnais, across the Minervois, the Canal du Midi and the vineyards.

Culture and History

The Église Saint-Baudile is mentioned as early as 940 in a donation by Aymeri, the Archbishop of Narbonne, to the Abbey of Saint-Pons-de-Thomière. An altar dating from the Romanesque period has been restored in the church. The church stands on an old castle mound surrounded by walls from various periods and houses a Gothic stone statue of Saint Baudile, which is classified as a historic monument.

Among the town's visible features are the Calades of Montouliers: sloping lanes paved with pebbles and, at the same time, a traditional Mediterranean road surface. The Calades were made from stones that farmers removed while working their fields.

Another special feature is the Cathédrale de Dentelle de Bois. Its cathedral-like structure consists of a multitude of wooden parts. It is located in a former winery that an artist from Montouliers converted into a studio and living space.
